Three Timeless Pairings

The best way to learn about pairing wine and cheese is to experience it for yourself.

Here are three timeless pairings to try.

Pinot Noir & French Gruyere

Pinot Noirs are usually bright and fruity, with complexity that comes from deeper base notes. They’re fairly delicate red wines.

French Gruyere has a similarly delicate, complex flavor: slightly sweet, salty, nutty, and increasingly earthy as it ages. 

Pinot Noir and French Gruyere bring out each other’s more subtle flavors without overwhelming one another.

 

Sauvignon Blanc & Goat Cheese

Goat cheese is creamy and tart, with a very mild flavor. But pairing it with Sauvignon Blanc brings out a wider variety of flavors in goat cheese that you might not notice otherwise. 

Sauvignon Blanc’s citrus and mineral notes highlight a subtle, earthy nuttiness in goat cheese. Together, the two elevate one another.

 

Sparkling Wine & Brie

Sparkling wine, such as champagne, is crisp and acidic, which
allows it to cut through the rich creaminess of brie. The result is a wonderful contrast of flavors and textures that creates a unique sensory experience.
